What purpose does this replica serve?
The replica of the gold plates serve as a reminder to us how the Book of Mormon came forth through God’s chosen prophet, Joseph Smith. Joseph translated the Book of Mormon from gold plates. The angel Moroni told Joseph that the plates could be found buried in a prominent hill near his home, later called Cumorah.
