“And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, … and they teach all men that they should do good.”
2 Nephi 33:10
I’ve read The Book of Mormon multiple times. The first time, it was through the night, after having read parts of the Koran, and other readings by Swedenborg, Christian Scientists, Seventh Day Adventists, in a quest for truth. I compared what I read about Christ’s teachings and the order of His Church and delegation of His authority to act in His name, with what I learned by reading the New Testament, which I’d just completed. I actually knew, reading the Book of Mormon that evening, by a clear manifestation of the Spirit of God–which, by the way, is real, tangible and God-given to testify of truth–that this Book of Mormon was true. It contained the additional revelation I knew must have existed.
Some people are halted in their investigation of truth by a misconception regarding the Lord’s statement that we shouldn’t add to or subtract from His word. That record, of course, is absolutely true, and Latter-day Saints (nicknamed “Mormons” by some) believe that no one should ever tamper with His gospel but that one should declare it as He has revealed Himself. How that has been interpreted has been the bone of misunderstanding. While mortals are not to tamper with His revelations to us, God can certainly continue to author and speak additional words to us. As Author of our salvation and Eternal Parent, why would He stop speaking to His children? To those who think He has stopped, the Lord Himself has said, you may say: : A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. . . . ” In response, He adds, “Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word?’ (2 Nephi 29.)”
What God has revealed originally became clouded over time, darkened by apostasy, and pieced together as well as well-intentioned Reformers could. But a reformation wasn’t enough to bring back the pure, unadulterated truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ as He taught them. That required a restoration. I testify that that restoration of truth through the prophet Joseph Smith has occurred in our day, and that The Church of Jesus Christ is now again upon the earth. We hope you’ll continue to learn more about it, and ask God for yourself, if these things are true.

Living out a great season of my life, thanks to Jesus Christ, and two wonderful daughters, a great life's work. Loving this opportunity to share faith online...
I'm a single Mom, convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, second-gen Italian, from the East coast originally. Love the fine arts, dance, frozen yogurt, temples, scriptures, writing, jazz, helping others reach their potential, king salmon, ....and not in that order. God is good. I feel it deeply when people have a misconception of Heavenly Father or Jesus Christ, His Son, that lessens or cheapens Them and blinds one's ability to feel His presence or to trust in an ultimately good eternal end to life's circumstances.
